Captive
A character composition for Aida Sinclaire

They give me a crown,
They pretend to bow down,
But deep inside, I’m a captive.
They call me Princess,
And they say this is best,
But they don’t think I’m even a person.
They take me for a fool,
Think I don’t see I’m a tool,
That I don’t know I’m only an object.
Though this face is a ruse,
There’s naught I can do,
When they throw pretty words to distract me.
The country’s deceived,
They think I’m relieved,
They don’t realize that I’m imprisoned.
So still I spend my days
Whilst waning away
In my prison of silk and satin.
They’ll kill me one day,
I don’t know what they’ll say,
Except hide behind “it has to be.”
Still, day by day,
I’m not let to say,
That I fear the fate laid before me.
Free me, steal me,
Capture me, lead me,
Steal my heart far away.
This prison of yours
Still offers me more
Than what freedom stone walls give away.
Disguised in freedom,
In the guise of a kingdom,
Is nothing but shackles and chains,
But hidden in fences
That block out pretenses
There I am freed by your gaze.
They lock me away,
They force me to stay
Where my heart is boxed and chained
But when I run away,
And hear three words you say,
My heart is free to be your captive.

This is a character composition for Aida Sinclaire, a character of mine in a story in my head that's a prequel to Anathema Story, which I'm getting close to finishing (I haven't named the prequel yet). Aida is the "key" or "catalyst" for the "final circle," as princess of the Magic Kingdom, and though treated well, has always had a sense of being a prisoner, an object to everyone... then she meets Shino Hamasaki, an outcast because of his magical inability, who treats her just like anybody else, and well duh, they end up falling in love, blahdy-blah-blah-blah.
Anyway the third line in each three-line section isn't supposed to rhyme with anything. It does sometimes, but it's not supposed to all the time, so don't whine at me when they don't.
