Fake

Can you say to me, looking straight in my eye,
That our friendship is not just a well-acted lie?
Would you still love me if you knew who I am?
All the fears, all the doubts, the betrayals and scams?
If I dared to show weakness, would you walk away?
Would you love or hate me with the tides of the day?
If I showed you my heart, would you reveal it?
Would you threaten to break my trust if you feel it?
If I dared to ask you what you thought of me,
Would you dare to answer me truthfully?
Do you care for my feelings, but more for my soul?
Will you speak up when I need you to be bold?
If I knew for sure what you thought at last,
Would I feel safe enough to take off my mask?
If I知 wearing a mask, if I知 not who I seem,
Can I trust you enough to show you the real me?
Are you a shoulder to cry on when I知 distraught?
When I知 gone, like the flower, will you forget me not?
When I知 suffering, will you help me carry on?
Will you take my burden and help me along?
Will you hold me together when I知 about to break?
Are you my friend, or are you a fake?

For a while, my friend Destinee's IM had, in place of a name, the phrase "Would you still be my friend if I dared to show weakness?" I just expanded upon that in this poem.
