The Key is the Sea
8-21-04

The bright blue sky shines down on me
As I try to remember, what is the key?
The key to life, the key will be,
The only way to eternity.

I must follow the one way I can,
To get to the goal, the beautiful land,
Of sea and of sky, of clear and of shining,
I hope it exists, else why am I trying?

The clouds soon roll in and the sky turns to gray
As I try to remember, I’m stopped for the day
As the rain pours, I seem to know for a fact
If I find my way there, I’ll never get back.

An orb shines bright, and the rain parts above it,
As if loathe to touch it, or knowing it loves it.
A deepening wonder, growing inside me,
To touch the strange orb, as clear as the sea.

Yet what if it leads, not to this land,
But to another place, by whose hand
I am delivered unto my dream
But with no chance to return, no chance to redeem?

Of sea and of sky, of clear and of shining,
This orb calls to me, oh how could it be lying?
As I remember the tale told to be,
I wonder if this little thing is the Key.

The Key of life, of eternity,
The thing connecting our worlds will be,
The one path, to the ocean lead,
The Land of Genesis, and the Key is the Sea.

This was sort of like a character composition for Morgan Zale, the main character in The One Way Home (working title), which I am sort of kind of trying to write right now. But she definitely did not think/say this. I just felt like doing this, since I was already doing story poems like the one for The Staff of the Sun right before this one. And no, it's not supposed to really make sense.
